Tourism stakeholders in Barbados are about to be presented with hard facts about the true impact of the local Sex Trade on the tourism sector of our economy.
Final year students of Hospitality & Tourism Management at the University Of The West Indies, Cave Hill Campus will be hosting a seminar on The Impact Of The Global Sex Trade On Tourism on Wed, 18th April 2018, 09.30 am - 12.30 pm. Venue to be announced.

- The importance of understanding the sex trade from a tourism development, management and marketing perspective

This seminar is an excellent opportunity for the students to boost their Leadership Skills, Organisation Skills, Event Management Skills, Communication Skills and Public Speaking Skills. This is also an opportunity for them to meet and impress key players in the tourism sector.
For far too long, tourism and other government officials in Barbados have failed to recognise the importance of implementing measures to effectively manage the impact of the local sex trade on our tourism product. This failure continues to lead to exponential increase from year to year, in health, social, criminality and other problematic issues which normally stem from the Sex Trade and Sex Tourism.
These problems can be easily and effectively controlled with proper management and regulation.
On the other hand, Sex Tourism is also having a positive impact on Barbados. The growth of this unofficial industry has been so widespread that it now become a major contributor to tourism arrivals, generation of foreign exchange and to the GDP on the whole. Therefore it makes sense to leverage some aspects of Sex Tourism to boost the economy.
The idea of this seminar was initiated by Charlie Spice, who has been a guest lecturer on The Impact Of The Sex Trade On Tourism at the University Of The West Indies, Cave Hill Campus for the past 4 years. He is also the Founder/President of Adult Industry Association (AIA), which is an international body for the global adult industry.
