For over 6 months, our URL of https://AdultIndustryAssociation.org was blocked from being published on Facebook and its sister company Instagram
When anyone tries to post the URL, an error message pops up sighting the the AIA link is in violation of their community standards.
After careful reviews of their community standards, it is clear that AIA categorically is not in violation of any of their rules and policies.
The basis of our argument is as follows.
- AIA does not post any pornography, sexually explicit material or any other content which is expressly outlined as prohibited in their Community Standard policies.
- AIA is an umbrella organisation aimed at improving operating standards and conduct with the adult industry and does not promote, sell or offer sexual services or products directly from its website.
- AIA does not allow its members to publish pornography, sexually explicit material or any other content on its website, which is expressly outlined as prohibited in the Community Standard policies of Facebook or Instagram.
Therefore, we feel that Facebook and Instagram are in violation of their own discrimination and other unfair practice policies.
Considering that AIA uses Facebook and Instagram for business purposes, this action of blocking our URL has had a severely negative impact on our organisation in the following ways.
- It has grossly hindered our ability to promote our organisation.
- It has impeded our ability to generate revenue.
- It has caused users to consider AIA as an unsafe site.
- It has severely damaged our brand and our credibility.
- We have incurred expenses to seek legal advice to resolve this matter.
Our first course of action is to send the management of Facebook and Instagram a letter via our Attorney, requesting that the block on our URL be removed.
