In a recent discussion, I was asked about my long term vision for Adult Industry Association.
Without hesitation or aforethought, I gave a brief response which did little justice to my deep sense of conviction and passion for AIA. Therefore I decided to blog an expanded version below.
"My medium to long term vision for the Adult Industry Association is to galvanise the support of the hundreds of millions of business owners, professionals and consumers worldwide by becoming members of our organisation. This gives us the strength and influence in numbers to effect change on a global and local basis, in the fight against discrimination, stigmatization and other unfair practices against the adult industry and its stakeholders.
It is only with the solidarity and backing of a united global front that AIA will have the leverage and fortitude to effect positive change in society's attitude, regard and treatment of people in our industry.
Although there are many meaningful and worthwhile unions, cooperatives and associations doing phenomenal advocacy work in the adult industry, they tend to be segmented and dotted around the world. Most are provincial or focused on a particular segment or sector of the industry. This by no means a negative reflection. We merely suggest that this is an opportunity to come together cohesively under one global umbrella organisation to strengthen their individual resolve on a collective, industry level.
To achieve our objectives, we have to employ the strategies of successful political and business tacticians. By becoming a representative body with hundreds of millions of members worldwide, AIA will then wield influence over the substantial spending and voting power of a massive consumer base. This gives AIA the type of leverage necessary to demand respect and a seat at the table in political, business and social circles.
The respect, support and inclusion we have all been fighting for so many years will only be achieved by having and levering political and financial power."
